ProPeten: Positive action for Guatemala's rural families and tropical forests

SURVIVOR IN GUATEMALA!

SURVIVOR was filmed at the Yaxha Mayan ruins, in the tropical forests where ProPetén works.  On the TV show we see the participants sweating and gritting it out in their challenges.  What we don't see are the people of the Petén, who face daily poverty and hardship -- tough conditions that won't end when the show is over.  The people of the Petén are the REAL survivors!

Help us help the REAL Survivors of the Petén and save the beautiful forests around Yaxha

ProPeten is a Guatemalan non-profit organization staffed by Guatemalan professionals who assist rural families and protect the lowland tropical forest of northern Guatemala within the Department of the Peten. We work to preserve Guatemala's impressive natural and cultural resources by creating jobs and economic alternatives for low income families, educating farmers and children about the benefits of ecosystem protection, and providing rural families with access to voluntary reproductive health and family planning. This integrated approach to creating healthy families in a healthy environment is producing solid success.

Help us protect Guatemala's people, environment, and future by becoming a member, a volunteer, or a supporter of ProPetén.

Help us create a positive future for Guatemala's families and tropical forests.

Visit Petén!  Surround yourself with howler monkeys, birdlife, and Mayan ruins, just like the contestants on Survivor!
